History

The regiment was first raised in the state of Victoria in 1939 immediately following Australia’s entry to the Second World War. Over 2,500 men passed through the ranks of the regiment during it’s 6 years of operations, serving in Egypt, Libya, Greece, Crete, Ceylon (now known as Sri Lanka) and New Guinea, until finally disbanded on the 11th of January 1946.
